Members of the Thunder Basin Science Club along with Campbell County Science Club, volunteer their time after school to create and run two elementary science days. The first is the Science Discovery Days held in November for all elementary students that are a part of the GATE program. On this day students come and get to explore science and engineering through a series of stations. The theme in 2019 was Rube Goldberg. Students came and built a Rube Goldberg machine and competed against others of their grade level. The other science event is the Elementary Science Olympiad held in February/March. Rule books are sent out to schools and GATE teachers for 4th – 6th grade students. They put together a team of 5 students and compete in 10 events organized by the High School Science Club members. This years event has 63 teams registered and will be held at the Boys and Girls club on March 6th.
