Children and families living with diabetes face many issues and it can become overwhelming. Having the support of others in similar situations can make the difference between coping and struggling. Children having the opportunity to meet other children living with diabetes can be empowering. Families will be provided opportunities to participate in recreational activities to promote active lifestyles, an essential component of diabetes prevention and management. Physical activities may include bicycling, walking, running, stretching, swimming, yoga, tai chi, and going on a nature hike. Activities may include art projects, board games, and other family centered events. A family contact and resources book will be developed.
